Great article. I also found CBT to be a complete waste of time and in fact it generally made me feel worse. A distinction needs to be made that people go to therapy to sort out their troubling thoughts, but this doesn’t mean they want to analyze every little detail about themselves or their past to death. This just makes people more ‘self-involved and depressed. Most people just want a feeling of hopefulness to return to their lives and to believe that things can and will improve. They need a warm, compassionate and uplifting guide, not a book of logic.
