An interesting read. However, I believe that romantic relationships need to be a 'two way street' in order to have any real intimacy, joy or growth. Problems only arise when one of the partners no longer wants or tries to meet the needs of their partner. It's not about counting the cost of what one has lost or gained from the relationship or any other factors. If you love and respect someone, you'll willingly want to make them happy and see it as a privilege to be of help, otherwise, what's the point of the union? People can still grow together and be independent in their thinking and way of living, if there is plenty of love, respect and connection involved. PS. In my opinion, these same rules also apply to any great friendship.
